What is threading?
Threading is an all natural hair removal method that has been performed in the Middle East for Centuries. It is more precise, less damaging, and can be done on even the most sensitive of skin.
The process uses a 100% cotton thread that is twisted and rolled along the surface of the skin, which traps and pulls the hair out from the follicle. It is an excellent alternative to waxing as the thread does NO DAMAGE to the skin and is a much more precise technique.
Threading can be used anywhere on the body, but is most often used for shaping the eyebrows. The results are always clean, well-defined lines and finely sculpted shapes that waxing alone can not produce.
The technique usually lasts 3 to 4 weeks on average, making touch-ups needed only once or twice a month. Those using medications such as Retin-A, or who have highly sensitive skin, can safely use threading without any worries.

How is waxing harmful?
Wax is actually a chemical mixture, which by itself can cause irritation to sensitive skin types. But wax is also heated, making the chemical impact even stronger. If your skin does not burn from the chemicals or the heat, which happens often, then you will get damage when the wax is peeled off. Every single time you get waxed it is taking off the top layers of your skin. Over time this can stretch, thin out and permanently damage the skin causing wrinkles and sagging eyelids. In darker skin types, the pigmentation can also be altered; making the area you wax many shades lighter than the surrounding skin area.
Does threading hurt?
Most do not feel any pain and some say there is just a slight pinch. Younger girls between the ages of 11-15 tend to be more sensitive, but this is usually due to a lack of experience in having hair removed from their brows.
Will I get red?
A slight pink will sometimes occur simply from pressure on the skin, but this does go away within 20-30 minutes. Compare this to waxing which leaves the skin open and raw with a redness that can last from several hours to even days.
Can I thread myself?
When a skilled technician is at work, threading can look very easy to do on your own, but this is not true. Threading is an art form that only trained professionals can perform. When an amateur attempts to thread the eyebrows and it is not done properly, skin can get caught between the thread can cause injury, leaving scabs along the skin. Too large amounts of hair can be pulled out at once, causing pain and can leave bare areas in the brows that can take months to grow back. Threading is a skill that is best left to the professionals.
